Job description
Hitachi Rail Honolulu JV is seeking a Project Accountant to work in Pearl City, Hawaii.
The Project Accountant will be required to perform the following project and management accounting duties as part of a dynamic rail transportation company: (i) ensure the proper preparation of company balance sheet and financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards and fiscal requirements, (ii) ensure that the company's accounting, financial and consolidation operations are performed correctly and efficiently through the coordination of administrative, financial and management control processes, (iii) support Structured Finance in providing an effective information flow to top management, (iv) ensure on time and reliable financial reporting systems that are in compliance with company needs, International Financial Reporting Standards, statutory entities and key stakeholders, (v) define budget and plan cash flow, as well as related forecasts, in coordination with Project Control for cash-in items, and Procurement Unit for cash-out items, (vi) support project financing activities and relating financial and bonding needs, (vii) support the internal/external audit process management (shared with Controlling and Management & Statutory Reporting), and (vii) support management in the evaluation and execution of possible mergers or acquisitions including due diligence process, evaluation of due diligence findings, and support of the definition and design of the Hitachi Rail units policies, processes, procedures.
Position requires a Bachelor's degree (employer will accept three or four year degrees, or foreign equivalent) in Accounting, Business Administration, or Commerce, as well as five years of experience in a project and management accounting position for the rail transportation industry.
Experience required with the following: (i) accounting and bookkeeping practices and principles, including Revenue Recognition and Cost Principles; (ii) GAAP / IFRS and budgeting practices, including Cost Accounting Concept Budget billing and costs plan, Costs tracking and reconciliation, and Cost allocation, (iii) maintaining and reconciling accounting and financial records, including bank reconciliation, Balance Sheet, P&L, Trial Balance, and Intercompany reconciliation, (iv) Cash management, and experience with project billing milestones and direct/indirect costs for monthly cash forecast planning; (v) SAP software, including ERP System, Accounting and Finance modules; (vi) spreadsheets, including PivotTable and related functions (including vlookup) for costs tracking and costs booking allocation; (vii) internal controls over financial reporting and regulatory compliance, including segregation of duties, access controls, standard documentations, physical audits, periodic reconciliations, and approval authority; (viii) Monitoring and tracking milestone billing procedures, processes, and standards for the rail and construction industries, and experience with railway milestones and progress requirements and terminology, including monthly variance analysis on Work in Progress, accrued and deferred income; (ix) transfer pricing application for tax calculation, including percentage of completion method and revenue recognition method; and (x) construction tax calculation and construction revenue recognition, provisional tax estimation and filing.
