The Trades Assistant is responsible for assisting the Fitters, Machinists and Welders in conducting repairs of mechanical equipment and parts and maintaining the workshop and associated equipment in a safe, clean and tidy condition.
Located at our Welshpool facility, this position is a full time position (38 hours per week) with overtime available. There is opportunity for advancement within the organisation for the right person.
Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor some of the responsibilities & tasks include:
Ability to operate grinders, spray painting equipment and other tools and machinery as required in a safe manner
Accurate completion of paperwork
Undertake training and development as required.
Ability to perform assigned tasks with minimal supervision;
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, memos, general correspondence and apply the knowledge of a reasonable person to carry out instructions;
Basic numeracy skills, having the ability to use these skills with weight, volume and distance measurements; and
Ability to work both autonomously and within a team.
The successful applicant will possess the following:
Current High Risk Forklift Licence
3+ years’ experience in a similar position
High level of Computer literacy
Strong attention to detail
Strong work ethic
Crane licence or experience would be highly regarded
Current drivers licence
Ability to develop knowledge of workshop procedures;
Ability to develop of the use and maintenance of workshop equipment;
Ability to develop of the operation of a plant;
General knowledge of Occupational Health, Safety and Welfare regulations;
Strong commitment to WHS Policies and procedures is essential
