Suspension Sr. Engineer

General Responsibilities:

As a member of the Hitachi Suspension Group, the primary responsibility of this position will be to design, plan, test, and coordinate multiple processes of product development used in automotive suspension semi-active shock absorber design and application. 

Job Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility of this position includes, but is not limited to:

• Coordinate all product development activity between OEM customer and responsible departments within the company.
• Comprehend and transfer of customer requirements to responsible activities within the company.
• Facilitate and manage program QCD timing in the roll of project engineer.
• Directly communicate and interface with OEM customers for issues regarding the products, including customers’ related concerns and/or improvement actions.
• Review and interface with OEM customer for warranty data and initiate and coordinate actions internally to improve quality.
• Create test plans, conduct and/or support lab testing necessary for related product/technology.
• Support sales staff to develop and establish marketing/pricing strategy.
• Work in conjunction with internal and customer vehicle development team.
• Knowledge of TS16949/IATF16949 requirements to support job responsibilities.
• Support and facilitate necessary CAD/CAE activity to meet new development requirements and/or address internal/customer concerns.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Have working knowledge and experience with APQP program management
• Be proficient with
  •  Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  •  Microsoft Project

• Experience with the following is desired, (not required)
  • CAD software – i.e. CATIA V5, UG, Solidworks preferred
  • CAE/FEA software – i.e. ANSYS
  • Math software – Matlab/Simulink
  • Statistical software – i.e. Minitab

• Have experience tracking and reporting design changes.
• Have experience coordinating and facilitating several small projects or one major project.
• Experience interfacing with customers is a plus.

Additionally, the ability to work independently with minimal direction is required as are strong/effective verbal and written communication skills.  Ability to travel and support activities and coordination at the global level is required.

Education:  Possess a bachelor degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering (or similar discipline)

Experience:  5-7 years applicable experience in related field, would consider less experience with a Masters Degree.

Job level determined by various factors such as organization size, responsibility, career stage, and capabilities.

Supervisory Responsibilities:  N/A

Working conditions:

Physical Demands: Required to sit or stand for long periods of time. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Have ability to work 40 – 60 hours per week.

Travel: Domestic and international may be required as needed.
