Hitachi America, Ltd. ( is seeking to hire a dynamic and self-motivated individual as R&D Operations Assistant to work with the R&D Planning Office team for R&D management and operations. The skilled R&D Operations Assistant will work with our R&D team based in Santa Clara, CA and Detroit, MI (remotely). The individual will be responsible for a broad range of operational duties for ensuring smooth execution as per company’s policies and guideline for the R&D members.


  • Provide support and coordination under the guidance of a PO Operations Coordinator for various research topics and R&D internal processes involving:
    • Onboarding and offboarding of PO members
    • Deadline management
    • Handle and process invoices
    • managing and documentation of R&D agreements with vendors/partners sometimes involving R&D cross regional activities
    • year-end deliverables and research report submissions
    • R&D internal meetings
    • export control process as per US EAR
  • Arrange customer and executive visits based on requests from managers
  • Manage and organize information portal sites and repository (MS SharePoint)
  • Work with R&D Managers on event planning
  • Work with R&D Managers to plan and coordinate R&D showcases (demos)
  • Coordinate various education/training classes (e.g. English Class/Japanese Class, Lab Manager training, etc.)


  • Bachelor’s degree in science/engineering with 0-2 years of experience working in a job or internship involving technology/research management.
  • Knowledge of PC and Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, MS Teams, SharePoint).
  • Ability to manage multiple job tasks with competing priorities.
  • Must be flexible, reliable and able to easily interact with all levels.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Experience in Japanese company and Japanese language skill preferred.
