Collection Specialist

Reports to:

Credit Manager

Summary of the position:

Under the direction of the Credit Manager, this position is responsible for the collection efforts for a portion of the Accounts Receivable portfolio and will be based in Michigan City, Indiana.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Contact customers regarding past due invoices in a professional manner while maintaining good customer rapport
  • Account reconciliation and researching payments to resolve invoice disputes and discrepancies
  • Able to provide payment information and explanation for non-payment of invoices
  • Ability to work with CSR’s, Sales Reps and other internal personnel regarding accounts receivable issues
  • Maintain follow-up system on collection efforts, accurate notes and files
  • Resolve Accounts Receivable issues for orders on credit hold
  • Assist in other areas, as needed 

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Associates Degree required 

Professional experience:

  • 5-7 years of experience in Commercial collections working directly with customers
  • Intermediate level Microsoft Office Suite skills (Outlook and Excel)
  • Strong organization skills; must keep track of large number of customer accounts and their current status
  • Experience in SAP is helpful
