Summary of the position:

Are you a strong writer who enjoys finding stories to tell? Do you get excited about experimenting and finding ways for public relations and external communications to add value, influence and drive meaningful impact to a business? If so, Sullair is seeking a talented Communications Manager to help us craft the next chapter of our story!

As a member of our growing Marketing and Communications team, the Communications Manager will be responsible for the planning and execution of primarily external communications strategies, programs and tactics that promote, protect and enhance the reputation of Sullair. This includes media relations, public relations, social media and content development efforts. You will ensure our messaging remains consistent, timely and relevant.

Strong writing and editing skills are critical—specifically the ability to communicate to diverse audiences in a clear and concise manner.

Location:  Chicago, Illinois or Remote (Eastern or Central time zones)

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Oversee all external public relations activities, including drafting and distributing press releases, media relations, pitching, responding to media inquiries, ghostwriting, managing PR at tradeshows, managing editorial calendar and more
  • Manage company’s social media presence (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and YouTube)
  • Lead efforts for Sullair Blog and assist with other content as needed, including customer stories, whitepapers, web content, brochures, flyers, etc.
  • Drive industry award and recognition programs for the company and employees
  • Assist with advertising campaigns, advertorials and branding efforts, as needed
  • Assist with quarterly employee newsletter
  • Maintain positive community and industry relations with organizations, advocacy groups, publications, etc.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business required; marketing/communication desired.

Professional experience:

  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience in a similar communications role
  • Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills (AP Style proficient)
  • Ability to uphold confidentiality when working on sensitive projects
  • Well organized and strong attention to detail
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneNote) required
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite a plus
  • Ability and willingness to travel to tradeshows, company events or customer sites when it is safe to do so
