Your new role

In this exciting role you will be responsible for supporting the business systems team with the delivery of their current and future projects. This is a 2 year fixed term contract.

As Hitachi Rail continues on its journey to globalise, we especially welcome Italian speaking applicants for this role.

Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables:

Main Responsibilities

  • To support the generation of project initiation documents
  • To learn and understand the business problems and identify the business needs
  • To aid the requirement gathering via problem statement and functional requirement documents, including defining the scope for change
  • To facilitate the running of workshops
  • To analyze requirements, priorities, categories and validate requests
  • To generate business process maps and help document SOPs
  • Contribute to the conversion of business requirement into technical design
  • Act as a liaison between the Business and the Information Technology (IT) department
  • Help in the creation of test scripts and participate in UAT
  • Aid the creation of training material
  • Support the handover of software developments to the Learning & Development team
  • Collaborate in the planning, design, development and deployment on new and enhanced applications
  • Support the rollout of projects across all depots
  • Assist in the end user transition to BAU support
  • Review and analyze the effectiveness of deployed software changes  
  • Ensure that all project information is organised and accurately filed in a systematic fashion on SharePoint to enable an audit trail through a project's life cycle
  • Collate information for reporting progress of key project activities as and when requested

Other responsibilities will also include:

  • Demonstrate effective communication and engagement with all personnel at all levels throughout the business (both internal and external stakeholders)
  • Support the development of internal project communications to increase visibility of progress throughout the project and wider business
  • Work alongside the Document Control function to ensure best practice is being demonstrated in the management of documents across all HRE projects
  • Provide project and administration support to the Project Delivery Manager as required

Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications

Skills & Experience

  • Degree level education
  • Previous experience as a SAP plant maintenance business analyst within an agile environment
  • Experience using business analysis techniques
  • SAP knowledge required in plant and service maintenance
  • Methodical approach to problem solving
  • Evaluating risks and predicting potential problems
  • Demonstrable experience of seeing large and complex projects successfully through the entire ‘lifecycle’  
  • The ability to work on own initiative, setting clear targets and deliverables, but within a tight project environment is essential
  • A self-starter willing to take responsibility for delivery of goals and objectives working remotely or from main offices when required
  • Willing to diversify dependent on the Business Systems team priorities.

Essential skills and Qualifications

  • In depth understanding of project and programme management tools and techniques and their purpose in the programme / project lifecycle
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to obtain collaboration from key programme stakeholders and end users
  • Sound prioritisation and organisation skills to deliver to tight time schedules
  • Skills for managing projects ensuring they meet targets
  • Strong IT skills: MS Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.
  • A professional approach
  • Ability to impact and effect change without being confrontational
  • Good standard of written and spoken English
  • Previous experience in an international company would be an advantage
