Designing and building the first US driverless rail transit system, factory and humanoid robots, the ultimate electron microscope to develop advanced materials or the ultra-small RFID to support global research on bees—it's all in a day’s work for Hitachi engineers. Job Description

Hitachi Social Innovation Business is currently looking for a PR & Events Manager to join our Marketing and Communication team globally with a focus on North America market.

We are looking for a self-motivated and creative communications professional with a proactive attitude to join our Global Marketing and communication team to enhance the organization awareness and positioning with the goal to create new business partnerships and leads. Reporting to the Vice President, the resource will oversee a network of countries, with an immediate focus on North America. He/she will work in strong collaboration with the Business team, the Strategy team as well as with external agencies to deliver all activities related to PR initiatives and Events on specific business topics.

The candidate will build the overall strategy for PR and Events working in close collaboration with the rest of the team to prepare an effective plan to create awareness, build strong positioning and create business leads. He/she has an excellent capability in writing and a strong knowledge of agencies/media/industry partners in US. He/she is also used to working with different teams, and autonomously in a fast-paced environment. Excellent teamwork skills are a necessary requirement.

By working in a company dedicated to incubating and implementing new business solutions, the ideal candidate is a curious person, open to learning continuously new business environment, understands the uniqueness of each solutions and how to position and communicate it within internal/external environments to support the business team in achieving their goals.

Responsibilities

  • Based on input from the Business and Strategy teams, build up a customized strategy for each business solution, with the goal of reinforcing the awareness/positioning of the brand in a specific sector to create business leads.
  • Coordinate external PR agencies by collaborating with local marketing team members for announcements and content development, including reports.
  • Developing and executing high quality communications strategies, leading to press opportunities, while also incorporating digital comms and partner engagement.
  • Create and implement a PR plan customized for different business solutions, based on its maturity
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholder, such as other group companies or business associations, to build up a trusted relationship, maximise investments and strengthen Hitachi’s positioning in specific business fields.
  • Identify the best media partners to work with for delivering branded content and events, coordinating content creation with the Global Marketing team.
  • Select events in North America to attend/sponsor based on business topics and potential ROI, and create a strategy to support the business team in maximizing the outcome in terms of business leads
  • Assist Business team with event production services for internal and external events.
  • Maintain a forward-looking portfolio of contacts and resources for SIB’s focus areas.


Skills and Qualifications

  • Master’s degree level of education preferred
  • 8-10 + years of PR and Event Management experience in an international environment required
  • Strong copywriting and content creation skills required
  • Developing communications plans including strategy, goals, budget and tactics required
  • Ability to prioritize and plan effectively
  • Develop creative, effective approaches to difficult communications challenges
  • Ability to manage multiple strategy plans and projects at the same time, while liaising with a variety of different stakeholders, both internally and externally
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong team player attitude 
  • Strong leadership skills in motivating colleagues in a manner that enhances working relationships and encompasses the company brand and values
  • Resourceful individual with the ability to work independently and to work well under pressure to meet established deadlines
  • Proactive thinking to prioritize workload and manage complex itineraries.  
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and mail merges; email and web searches. 
  • Excellent analytical skills, strong attention to detail
  • Lead on developing and delivering communications strategies encompassing a range of channels - media, but also digital communications and external affairs.
  • Deliver high quality press materials to secure strong coverage in the media, supported by digital and social media
  • Maintain a clear forward look of communication opportunities covering key business areas, with clear media handling plans
  • Support business team in their communications activities related to PR announcement/tools and events.
  • Provide strong line management and guidance to the wider team.
