Quality Assurance Engineer II

Under limited supervision, performs a wide variety of tasks that are relevant to QA. Works closely with all areas of the company to support organizational success. This is a senior level non-management position requiring independent analysis and action. 


  • Works with Quality manager in establishing, implementing, and maintaining the quality management system.
  • Initiates continual improvement activities to enhance the quality system.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and supports implementation of corrective action for process related concerns.
  • Develops training programs to build quality awareness.
  • Supports the incoming QC Inspectors to ensure that products and processes comply with the relevant requirements of the quality management system.
  • Supports audits, including closing out audit findings, determining proper corrective and preventive actions.
  • Analyzes failure, corrective and preventive actions to respond to customer complaints.
  • Creates and maintains company quality documentation, such as quality manuals, quality procedures, etc.
  • Oversees continuous improvement of QA receiving inspection process and procedures.
  • Ensures timely resolution of supplier failure, corrective actions and preventive actions.
  • Conducts system tests with a support from Engineering and Manufacturing.
  • Manages suppliers’ performance and conducts audits working together with Purchasing.
  • Ensures our products are in conformance with customer’s requirements as well as internal specifications. 
  • Performs testing of product at component level prior to shipment as needed.
  • Reviews and approves Certificate of Conformance (COC).
  • Approves shipment of products to customers. Stops shipment when non-conformance is found or suspected with the products and works with Manufacturing and Engineering to resolve the non-conformance.
  • Encourages the employees to improve HPES product quality through training, meetings, etc.


  • Communicates well with Engineering/Manufacturing Department people to conduct the above duties.
  • Attends or holds QA meetings as appropriate, prepares agenda and issues meeting minutes when requested by QA Mgr.
  • Performs other QA related duties as assigned or directed.


•   B.S. or equivalent experience required in a related technical or scientific field. 

•    A minimum of 5 years of experience in the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of accelerator systems is necessary.


Lift and carry 35 pounds occasionally. Communicate by speech and hearing continuously. Repair/install mechanical devices and spare parts, by use of hand tools, etc. Movement within office complex and in confined spaces around machines and products under construction. Communicate by telephone and in person. Visual acuity and manual dexterity needed for close detail work, computer use, operation of machines, use of testing and measurement devices, the assembly of parts at distances close to the eyes and the reading of drawings, blueprints and documents. Normal color perception (no color blindness).


Complex English reading, writing, and strong customer presentation skills.  High math and analytical skills.  Must possess high skill level in areas of independent analysis, judgment, and complex engineering problem solving.  Must be tactful, diplomatic, and professional in all customer interactions.  Moderately complex reading, writing and math skills.  Requires considerable perception, comprehension and analysis in resolving problems and making recommendations.  High task organization skills.


Works alone and with others in a general office, industrial/medical, and/or laboratory setting when performing on-site service.
