Status: Regular, Full-Time

Summary

The Communications Specialist plays a central role in executing Hitachi government affairs communication strategy in the US. He/she will work with the Washington Office team and other Hitachi departments to execute a communication plan. This person will be responsible for communicating to internal and external stakeholders by synchronizing with Government Relations strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design of Hitachi’s government communication plan based on government relations strategy of Hitachi Washington Office and execute the plan under supervision of Director.
  • Responsible for all communications, including talking points for individual meetings with government officials, internal and external newsletters, organizational announcements, marketing materials including print and electronic publications, website content, internal communications, public relations materials, multimedia and other related materials.
  • Provide support to Hitachi group companies in the U.S. to educate them on how to leverage   government relations communication function.
  • Support Hitachi executives to attend and present at conferences and events including speech writing and creating presentation materials.
  • Organize events, manage web site and SNS.
  • Communication activities to support CSR function.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Political Science, Public Relations, Marketing or related field is required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related role.  Government relations experience is a plus.
  • Excellent writing and communications skills (written and verbal) and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals.
  • Must have experience using and measuring the effectiveness of social media to achieve specific business/organizational objectives.
  • Basic understanding of government structure is necessary.
  • Must have speech draft creation and digital storytelling experience.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Creative, curious, positive and high-energy individual with an ability to execute.
