What you'll be doing

The Senior Technical Consultant role involves interacting with customers within Hitachi Vantara's Global Delivery division. You will be responsible to deliver Hitachi solutions with focus on Converged Solutions Vmware to enterprises that range size from small to very large. Other duties include supporting both customers and internal stakeholders in Sales, Pre-Sales, Professional Services, Global Support, etc.

  • Consulting, planning and implementation of customized solutions to address customer requirements, utilizing Hitachi's and partner portfolio
    • industry best practices for CONVERGED SYSTEMS specific solution areas
    • applications in relation to HW-infrastructures with special regard to integration, automation, performance topics
  • Provide subject matter expertise in assigned solutions area
  • Take technical ownership of assigned projects, accounts or tasks (troubleshooting, customer workshops, etc.)
  • Show expertise to be able to participate within a Subject Matter Expert group
  • Drive proactively new and incremental business by developing technical relationships (e.g. consult w/ Pre-Sales for RfPs and ensure success of customer PoCs)
  • Deliver standard product and solution presentations
  • Document client feature requests and issue
  • Understand and exploit customer's technical issues and align proposed solutions to business need
  • Appreciation and knowledge of the IT challenges and related business issues (Digital Transformation, Cloud, etc.)
  • Deliver standard product and solution presentations

What you bring to the team
  • Minimum 2 to 4 years of experience as a Systems-Engineer (for Storage, Network and Compute solutions)
  • Good personal presence, well-organized, adaptable and clear thinker
  • Excellent customer handling skills, going "the extra mile" if needed
  • Ability to work in unstructured situations and handle multiple demands with competing and changing priorities
  • General knowledge of
    • Hitachi Vantara Products (hardware, software, solutions and services)
    • and/or knowledge of our Competitor Products - very preferably VCE/Dell EMC, NetApp(-Cisco-FlexPod), IBM, HP
  • Wide experience in Server-, OS-, Network-, SAN- and Storage-environments/architectures
  • If possible in-depth knowledge of Hypervisor-Technology: vSphere or KVM
  • Sales awareness and passion for sales to help grow Hitachi Vantara together with the Account Teams
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills - German mother tongue and minimum of an "upper-intermediate level" with written and spoken business English
  • Ability to work unsupervised - self-motivated and self-contained
  • Innovative and actively looking for solutions to challenges
  • Willingness to accept responsibility and accountability
  • Provide the Hitachi Vantara customer base with clear technical direction as well as the Vantara vision
  • Take technical ownership of assigned accounts or tasks
  • Take responsibility for decisions and work with internal / external resources to resolve issues
  • Ensure effective team work and communication in all engagements - with customers, Hitachi Vantara teams, Services Colleagues etc.
  • Take advantage of all types of available education material and methods to broaden skills and develop agreed areas of specialization
