Description

Summary of the position:

The Aftermarket Parts Engineer coordinates project management of sales orders between the customer, engineering, manufacturing, purchasing and billing from order entry to shipping.  Follow-up with the customer after shipment to ensure that equipment purchased operates properly and in accordance with the job specifications.

Duties and responsibilities:

Assist Aftermarket Parts Techs with advanced technical inquiries

  • Motors
  • Electronics
  • Communications

Assist with quoting, design, and procurement of customer field retrofit kits

  • Coordinate with engineering to ensure the intent of the scope is met
  • Develop instructions for kits as needed for field installation

Responsible for Aftermarket Parts Tech training / customer & distributor training

  • How to locate the correct parts required
  • How to use SmartEquip
  • Drive manual accuracy & updates as required with engineering
  • NPD Liaison driving manual and kit consistency (help drive standard processes)

Drive departmental standard work

  • Quoting
  • Define processes and develop tools
  • Align policies for phase in and phase out of Parts
  • Centrifugal parts

Qualifications:

Ideal candidates would have field service experience with air compressors or similar rotating equipment assemblies.

Full understanding of air compressor components and functionality

Education:

  • Bachelor or Associate Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Technology
  • 5-7 years field service experience with rotary screw / centrifugal air compressors

Professional experience:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude, knowledge/previous experience in air compressors and ancillary equipment
  • Good troubleshooting ability
  • Understanding of Bill of Materials and MRP systems/ Engineering EN process
  • Experienced with Microsoft Office software and ERP systems (JDE and SAP preferred)
  • Experienced with project management methodologies and software (Gaant Chart)
  • Strong communication skills to work cross-functionally on product issue resolution
  • Ability to travel, as needed (centrifugals)
