The Opportunity

We currently seeking an enthusiastic Purchasing Officer to join our Mackay Mining Solutions team. In this permanent full-time role, your core focus will be facilitating communication between production, sales and distribution to promote efficient and cost-effective distribution of goods.  It also supports the sales department in the coordination of sales-related activities.  Reporting to the Branch Manager, your main responsibilities include:

  • Liaise with Adelaide procurement team as “Single Regional” point of contact.
  • Carry out daily warehouse replenishments and co-ordinate with production managers with procurement of shortages.
  • Co-ordinate all cycle counts, including being “Single Regional” point of contact for finance (In relation to cycle counting).
  • Liaise with suppliers regarding deliveries & expediating of backordered components to meet production promised delivery dates.
  • Procure parts for all work orders. Manage delivery, receipting and issuing of parts to meet production requirements.
  • Manage parts requests from workshop personal in relation to ongoing work orders, including ordering to meet production demands.
  • Attend daily production meetings with relative information regarding the weekly dispatch forecast.
  • Work order reconciliation of parts upon dispatch.
  • Advise delivery shortfalls prior to commencement of work that will critically impact the production schedule. (Driven by expected completion / deliveries maintained by operations.
  • Dispatch all customer parts sales order via the Pronto report.
  • Gain a strong working knowledge of the H-E Parts components and procedures.
  • Processing of all stock transactions within the ERP system
  • Provide accurate reports to management.
  • Ensure that the sales team has up to date materials deliveries to assist in their roles.
  • Answer phone calls and emails relating to sales enquiries and provide up to date information to the customer.

About You

Our aim is to provide the best customer service through an empowered, talented, and responsive team. To achieve this we are looking for someone with 1 to 3 years’ experience in a similar role. You will also have:

  • Experience in customer service or logistics management;
  • Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills;
  • Inventory maintenance experience;
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment;
  • Forklift License;
  • Be approachable, personable and have a willingness to learn.
  • Be systematic, disciplined and good at detail work.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member.
  • A commitment to working in a safe manner, abiding by all safety processes and procedures

You will preferably have:

  • Certificate IV in Sales or Supply Chain would be highly regarded,
  • Knowledge of Pronto or other ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of current OH&S legislation.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of mobile mining equipment.
