Summary of the position:

Perform various tasks including classification, research, and monitoring Sullair processes; and conducting internal training to ensure that Sullair LLC is performing all import and export related activities in compliance with U.S. regulations and Hitachi compliance directives.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Process imports—compare rates, arrange shipments, ensure correct HTS classifications for accurate payment of import duties, monitor clearance delays, approve/code freight invoices, and provide import shipment details to Sullair Purchasing team.
  • Classify Sullair products for HTS (Harmonized Tariff classification)
  • Monitor and maintain processes and procedures for Export compliance including annual internal training, monitoring shipments to Embargoed/Restricted countries, resolution of Red Flags, reporting of Boycott requests, exporting products and technology.
  • Issue certificates (Compliance, Conformity, Free Trade Agreement, etc.).
  • Determine COO (country of origin) for kits and ensure COO for manufactured and purchased products are correctly reported on Commercial Invoices issued by Sullair.
  • Create and update Sullair Import/Export Procedures.
  • Obtain hazmat shipping certification for domestic and international hazardous classification.
  • Audit Broker clearance documents for compliance with U.S. laws.
  • Monitor/resolve export holds.
  • Approve Customer Screening forms for new customers.
  • Process freight claims



  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Import/Export experience preferred
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Hazmat certified for both domestic and international (IATA) shipments.

Professional experience:

  • Minimum of one-year experience HTS classification.
  • Hazardous shipment experience.
  • Experience using Team Center, JDE and Excel.
  • Familiar with U.S. Import/Export regulations.
