Intelligent Fleet Carbonisation (IFD) is an exciting new team that is helping customers meet the environmental challenges in moving to energy efficient vehicles and providing charging locations where needed.


Role Overview                                                                                                            

This is an exciting time to be joining the IFD team. We are expanding our project delivery team due to growth and more of our customers looking at how they can meet the environmental challenges they face.

Hitachi Europe is seeking a Project Manager to lead and deliver exciting innovation projects in the energy and electrical vehicle domain.

The candidate will have experience in successfully leading and delivering projects to agreed scope, time and budget. Strong documentation, communication, matrix management and stakeholder manager skills are essential.

The Project Manager will also be responsible for the management and control of project budgets as well as being responsible for the effective management of risks and issues to ensure logs are updated and that mitigation plans are in place.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

  • To project manage a number of complex energy and electrical vehicle projects, ensuring delivery on-time, within scope and within budget
  • Create, and maintain, comprehensive project documentation
  • Develop project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
  • Liaise with internal resources and third parties/vendors for the delivery of projects
  • Coordinate and ensure resource requirements, availability and allocation to projects
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plan to track progress
  • Manage and control project budget as well as ownership of the project claim process for the accountable senior manager
  • Establish and maintain the relationship with clients, 3rd parties and all stakeholders
  • Perform risk management to minimise project risks
  • Responsible for the effective management of risks and issues to ensure logs are updated and that mitigation plans are in place, escalating where necessary
  • Ensure project delivery remains within the overall governance within Hitachi Europe-IFD
  • Lead communication and effectively manage expectations of project partners to ensure project is kept to agreed scope and its benefits maximised
  • Where required provide valuable input into project bids
  • Conduct reviews to assess project outcomes to enable continuous improvement by identifying and documenting lessons learned.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

The ideal candidate will have experience in a number of the following areas:

  • The ability to lead and deliver projects, with relative autonomy, to agreed scope, time, and budget. At least 5+ years (or equivalent) of relevant experience.
  • Strong communication skills, stakeholder management and the ability to effectively manage output of project partners and suppliers.
  • Experience working within the electrical vehicle or energy sector, would be an advantage
  • Service delivery or operations experience is desirable but not essential 
  • Capable of managing budgets effectively within the context of a multinational business.
  • A demonstrable understanding in the principles of Waterfall and Agile project management methodologies
  • The ability to quickly understand the scope of a project and suggest an approach to manage it appropriately
  • PRINCE2 Foundation or equivalent Project Management qualification will be an advantage
