What you'll be doing

Plan the design and architecture of an entire project

• Lead projects/technical teams (from a technical standpoint) independently through design and implementation of systems infrastructure projects and overseeing the build of Cloud environments based on customer requirements
• Designing and implementing Virtual Private Cloud VPC environments, including compute, storage, database, networking, security etc. in the Cloud ecosystem
• Knowledge of the Cloud network architecture including designing VPN solutions between regions and subnets
• Knowledge with the Cloud AMI architecture including the development of machine templates and blueprints
• Designing the HA / DR strategies in the Cloud ecosystem
• Validation to ensure that the environment meets all security and compliance controls
• Leveraging written and verbal communication skills to work directly with customers and translate business needs into technical requirements for implementation
• Must be knowledgeable and confident in overall industry and Hitachi Vantara strategic directions while adhering to best practices
• Research new technologies and how they fit into our infrastructure
• Plan/Document/Create Tickets for future technical tasks and delegates them to the project team based on the skill level of the engineer
• Lead and present technical topics with customers and/or the larger Hitachi Vantara team
• Awareness of security protocols as it applies to projects - technologies
• Facilitate collaboration between teams to come up with solutions to complex technical issues
• Formally mentor junior team members within Hitachi Vantara
• Act as a product SME by supporting the Sales - Account teams as needed during LOE and SOW preparation (pre-sales discussions with clients)
• Manage client technical and delivery expectations working closely with the PMO
• Facilitates code reviews across and Architecture Review meetings for multiple projects
• Includes concepts from the Cloud Well Architected Framework in designed solutions
• Create Performance Reviews, Performance Improvement Plans and other related documentation to assist in the development of employees within Hitachi Vantara



What you bring to the team

• Canadian Citizenship
• Canadian Security Clearance - either current or qualified to obtain one
• Good working knowledge of Cloud Services and Offerings such as Messaging, Application Services, Migration Services, Cost Management Platform
• Working knowledge of Configuration Management (Chef preferred, Puppet or Ansible) Continuous Integration Tools (Jenkins preferred)
• Prior experience provisioning and spinning up Cloud Environments
• Hands on Terraform experience
• Production experience to build scalable systems (load balancers, memcached, master/slave architectures)
• Experience supporting a managed services infrastructure (On-Prem and/or Public cloud)
• Prior work with Cloud Monitoring tools (Nagios, Cacti, CloudWatch, Gnaglia, etc.)
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Mesos, NoSQL databases (DynamoDB, Cassandra, MongoDB, etc)
• Other Open Source tools used in the infrastructure space (Packer, Terraform, Vagrant, etc.)
• At least one Professional Cloud certification (Architect, DevOps)
• Strong knowledge and Evangelist for DevOps best practices including CI/CD methodologies and tools
• Advanced proficiency on concepts covered in Cloud Well Architected Framework
