The Opportunity

We currently seeking an enthusiastic Graduate Design Engineer to join our Adelaide team. In this permanent full-time role, your core focus will be the research and creating designs of new products, processes and documentation. You will also be improving existing products, processes and documentation, and providing technical support within the company. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, main responsibilities include:

• Product design including product research and development in a thorough, systematic and documented method. This includes requirement definition, detail design, analysis and testing in consultation with the Engineering Manager.
• Develop product, process and quality specifications.
• Develop detailed instructions for the repair, maintenance or installation of various products.
• Inspect repair work for suitability for reuse or repair.
• Conduct failure analysis.
• Clearly communicate complex technical concepts.
• Provide technical support to other departments.
• Maintain compliance with relevant standards and systems, including ISO9001.
• Develop and protect the intellectual property of H-E Parts.

About You

Our aim is to provide the best customer service through an empowered, talented, and responsive team. To achieve this we are looking for someone with 5 years’ experience in a similar role. You will also have:

• Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering Degree.
• Have demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
• Knowledge of steel castings and associated processes and specifications.
• Have good communication and organisational skills.
• Be approachable, personable and have a willingness to learn.
• Be systematic, disciplined and good at detail work.
• Ability to work both independently and as a team member.
• Be proficient with Microsoft Office products.
• A commitment to working in a safe manner, abiding by all safety processes and procedures

You will preferably have:

• Have proficiency with 3D modelling and 2D drafting.
• Have proficiency with structural calculations and FEA.
• Commitment to quality and the concepts of continuous improvement.
• Ability to travel when required.
• Knowledge of Pronto or other ERP systems.
• Knowledge of current OH&S legislation.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of mobile mining equipment.
