General Description:

The primary responsibilities of this position are:

  • To build and test shock absorbers to support the Quality / Validation team.
  • Monitor and maintain current inventory levels, track orders and investigate problems
  • Record inventory orders, maintain database, perform count of inventory, reconcile actual stock to database
  • Perform quality/validation measurements on incoming components, analyze data from validation measurements to determine whether the measurement meets required criteria
  • Use statistical analysis tools to generate data reports

Daily activities include placing orders, filling orders, measuring components using sophisticated measuring equipment, analyzing data to determine COPQ. Duties also included assembling/disassembling prototype shock absorbers, blueprinting the internals, performance testing, and writing reports for the engineering department. This job requires working in a professional laboratory environment with and around mechanical test equipment.

Most importantly, this individual must be able to contribute to a fun and productive environment, maintain a positive attitude, and develop strong working relationships with colleagues and team members.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Applies knowledge of mechanical engineering technology under direction of engineering staff.
  • Assists in product tests.
  • Prepares layouts and processes to improve organization of a very complex inventory of parts.
  • Estimates labor costs, equipment life, and cost of poor quality.
  • Analyzes indicated and calculated test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives and modifies/adjusts equipment to meet specifications.
  • Records test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and recommendations for changes in product or test method.
  • May test and inspect machines and equipment in suspension lab or work with engineers to eliminate/solve problems.
  • Maintains inventory of common parts, with the use of an internal part ordering system
  • Building and testing shock absorbers to support customer tuning activity and lab testing.
  • Measurement and blueprinting of shock absorber valve components using advanced measurement equipment.
  • Run shock absorber testing using various types of shock absorber test machines.
  • Must be able to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must be highly detail oriented and organized, and able to apply work methods to maximize efficiency and minimize errors.
  • Must be a self-starter that can be counted on to achieve goals on time and with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with Office 365, Power Apps, Power Bi,
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel is required, including creating Macros and use of basic formulas, entering data, and plotting graphs to visualize data.
  • Capability to understand fundamental operation of mechanical systems from an engineering perspective.
  • Ability and desire to learn new skills quickly and apply them to daily work.
  • Strong technical communication skills.  Able to summarize test results in email, read and understand data and charts, and read technical specifications and drawings.
  • Valid driving license and reliable transportation.
  • Able to work effectively and accurately amidst distractions.

Education: Possess at least high school degree (or equivalent) and 2 year assoc. degree (preferred)

Experience: 2-4 years of experience in material handling, inventory control, warehouse operations

Working conditions:

Physical Demands:  Require sitting or standing for long periods of time. Able to perform light physical work consistently and lift up to 75 pounds occasionally.

Travel:   Domestic and international may be required as needed

Work Environment: Remote work and/or in a professional business office with exposure to testing areas and periodic exposure to manufacturing environments.
