Summary of the position:

The Business Development Manager, Direct Channel will be responsible to identify and qualify new market areas for direct to market business opportunities.  The position will assist lead the management of Merger and Acquisition activity from due diligence through post acquisition integration. This role has strong emphasis on defining areas focused on improving market position and achieving revenue growth.  The Business Development Manager, Direct Channel reports to the Vice President of Direct Sales and the position can be based out of our executive office in Chicago, Illinois alternatively, the position can work remotely within the continental USA.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Identify opportunities to expand direct sales market coverage that will drive profitable revenue growth
  • Work with senior management to develop an acquisition strategy that drives revenue growth.
  • Build and leverage relationships with existing and potential channel partners to identify target opportunities.
  • Monitor the M&A and competitive landscape and think creatively about markets and adjacencies.
  • Advise senior management of the merits of specific investment opportunities based on thorough analysis and evaluation in the context of the organization’s strategic priorities.
  • Create and proactively manage prospect list while focusing time on highest value prospects to ensure short and long-term business objectives are achieved
  • Assistance building out some of the first merger and acquisition models
  • Assist in execution of all aspects of M&A process including valuation, term sheet preparation, LOI and due diligence
  • Lead negotiations, coordinate complex decision-making processes, and overcome objections to generate and close new revenue and market growth through channel acquisition
  • Help lead transition from deal execution to integration
  • Ability to travel to perform site visits to current and potential market areas is required
  • Develop KPI’s and regular reporting to senior management with activity and results during regular review meetings
  • Perform other related tasks or duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field with experience in merger and acquisitions

Professional experience:

  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and quality assurance experience.
  • Strong financial acumen
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)  

Key behaviors:

  • Excellent communication skills with strong ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent presentation skills with ability to present to executives and senior management  

Direct reports:

This position will hire and lead a Business Development Team.
