Meet The Team

The leadership team is composed of the Practice Head and Discipline leads across Business/Product Management, Design, and Engineering.

What You Will Be Doing
The person in this role should be comfortable in a player-coach role and will be a key member of a "founding team" that will drive new product development as well as scale the growth of new business offerings. The Design Director will be responsible for establishing a design team in service of discovering, validating, and scaling new business offerings. This means having skills that map to product discovery, product delivery, design research, and design strategy.
The Design Director's peers in Product Management and Engineering will round out the full set of capabilities needed to support end-to-end new offering development (from zero to one, and in between). In addition, the role entails partnering with the larger Vantara Design organization as well as other design orgs within the larger ecosystem of Hitachi group companies. These partnerships will be important for scaling up resources as well as fostering a sense of community for members of the design team.

What You Bring to the Team (Qualifications)
• Comfortable working in new product development
• Comfortable fostering a new culture within an existing organization
• Capable of leading a team as well as being hands on in the day-to-day work
• Generalist skills set across visual design, interaction design, strategy, research, prototyping, and delivery
• Comfortable building and leading a small to medium size design team (4-8)
• Experience with end-to-end design activities for product development; discovery, research, strategy, user validation, and delivery
• Experience defining project schedules, staffing, milestones, and budgets
