The Role

Our fast-paced, highly-collaborative engineering team is seeking a Software Development Engineer - Performance who will be a member of a cross-functional team prototyping, designing, and developing highly-performant products. Throughout the development lifecycle, you will use your specialized skills and product knowledge to identify and improve architectural issues, performance bottlenecks, and defects that impact performance in order to provide the best possible user experience at scale.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to a performance driven proactive culture for designing, developing, and supporting scalable software applications/systems
• Advocate for and drive performance requirements and SLAs
• Create actionable performance test plans from business requirements
• Collaborate with entire engineering team to create functional specifications and technical designs
• Build and maintain test infrastructure and automated tests to enable the engineering team to validate or discover performance issues
• Identify performance problems, isolate root causes, and demonstrate product improvements
• Analyze performance data and present actionable conclusions to the team
• Work in cross-functional engineering teams to turn requirements into prototypes, technical designs, and implementation

Experience and Skills

• 5 - 8 years of hands-on contribution in software performance engineering or related field
• Excellent analytical, debugging, and troubleshooting skill
• Familiarity with performance engineering concepts (modeling, testing, tuning, data analysis, etc.)
• Knowledge and understanding of Linux and container fundamentals
• Strong SW development skills in Java
• Experience in performance benchmarking, analysis, and optimization of distributed, multi-threaded applications in Java
• Solid understanding of CPU, memory, network, storage hardware, and software subsystems as they relate to performance
• Ability to learn new languages, tools, & architectures quickly
• Ability to convey complex technical information in a clear and concise manner
