Summary:

Hitachi Particle Engineering and Services, Inc. is looking for a Service & Commissioning Engineer to join the AccSys Technology division.

The Service & Commissioning Engineer will support engineering and field service activities of highly complex mechanical and electro-mechanical subsystems used in the Linear Accelerator (LINAC) products for Particle Beam Therapy (PBT) system. Under general supervision, he/she will work closely with the Engineering Department, Manufacturing Department, and Quality Department not only to offer technical services for PBT project site but also to provide “hands-on” technical feedback for the company to improve the design, the implementation and the testing of the LINAC products.

The position requires to work not only at the company’s facility but also at PBT project sites. The engineer will be assigned to support both maintenance and commissioning of PBT system.

Responsibilities:

  • Support installation and startup of company’s products at project site
  • Review procedures and design drawings to ensure the quality of technical services
  • Support assembly, manufacturing, and test for the LINAC and PBT system
  • Provide on-call technical support (including after-hours) to the customer  
  • Perform planned maintenance and corrective maintenance at the project site
  • Execute system test and other troubleshooting and repair tasks at the company’s facility
  • Report results and feedback of the services performed at project site and maintain the records
  • Communicate and collaborate with the team and other departments to improve the products, services, installation procedures and quality standards
  • Adopt new technology, products and processes in daily operations Fulfill work orders, business procedures and all regulatory standards
  • Practice commissioning activities as a part of commissioning team at project site if requested

Qualifications:

  • University degree or Superior Technical Certification in Engineering or a related discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Field Measurement, etc.)
  • Experience in the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of accelerator systems
  • Proven skill in reading and correctly interpreting various engineering documents (schematics, wiring, diagrams, piping diagrams, etc.)
  • High competency with MS Office Suite and other software such as CAD.
  • Basic knowledge of the followings;
    • Cooling system (required)
    • Accelerator structure design and related manufacturing technologies (desired)
    • Hipot testing and troubleshooting of High Voltage (up to 30 KV DC) systems (desired)
    • Cryopump, turbo pump and ion pump vacuum systems (desired)
    • RF amplifier systems (preferred)
    • Digital and analog command and control systems (preferred)
    • Control loop systems (preferred)
    • RoHS Directive (preferred)
    • ISO 9001 standards (preferred)
  • Capable of working independently as well as a part of cross-functional team
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Flexibility in working hours and locations (frequent travels)
  • Familiarity with working in high-voltage, radiation and electromagnetic area and confined spaces around machines and products under construction
  • Ability to work at 10+ meters height and to lift up to 32kg repeatedly and safely
  • Visual acuity and manual dexterity for close detail work and operation of machines
  • Proficiency in; English (required), Japanese (highly preferred)
