Your new role

We are currently recruiting for a Quality Manager to help develop and implement quality plans in order to ensure and demonstrate fleet recovery programme activities are conducted in a compliant manner.

The role will involve investigating product quality incidents & managing improvement activities. This role is a fixed term contract and we can be flexible on location, travel will be involved.  

Specifically, you will be responsible for the following:

  • To develop and implement quality plans in order to ensure and demonstrate fleet recovery programme activities are conducted in a compliant manner.
  • To provide general Quality expertise to the FRP team.
  • To organise and conduct surveillance activities such as in process checks and audits, an planned schedule and on an ad-hoc basis
  • Manage and support the resolution of non-conformance reports relevant to the project.
  • Carry out oversight and monitoring of key maintenance management processes to ensure regulatory, legislative and contractual compliance.
  • Conduct investigations in to quality failing and ensure that corrective preventative actions are implemented in a timely manner.
  • Escalate issues of potential non-compliance to FRP Management.
  • Produce periodic KPIs and reports in order to communicate quality performance of the FRP.
  • Liaise with RS Project Quality to ensure all necessary design requirements are being met and ensure the latest documentation is available.
  • Ensure the necessary support for the External Body audits to guarantee/ maintain the Hitachi Rail’s quality certification for OS&M.
  • Contribute to ensuring customer satisfaction by interfacing with the clients on the specific project if needed.
  • Update and improve quality documentation as requirement.

About you


  • Experience of working in a quality management role.
  • Extensive experience of quality management systems,
  • Having working knowledge of Quality and CI tools such as: APQP; Kaizen; Six Sigma.
  • Technical report writing skills
  • Ability to work to technical drawings and specifications.
  • Able to travel and perform independent activities at suppliers;  
  • Able to work and to manage supplier related activities alone;
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Computer literacy: SAP; MS Office; etc.
  • Commitment to working as part of a team
  • An understanding of health and safety requirements of a working environment


  • Technical knowledge and experience of Modern EMU rolling stock
  • Extensive experience  of working in railway depot environment


  • Lead auditor qualification and experience (IRCA certified desirable)
  • Electrical/Mechanical Engineering degree or relevant apprenticeship and experience
