Production Manager 

As the Production Manager you will be the lead for Production teams and OEE improvement projects as part of the Operations team on site. The role will work with the Design, Quality and Production Engineering manager and will lead on-site SGA initiatives to improve Operational KPIs. The strategic aim of the role is to build UK production teams foundations by strengthening Production/Operational basics. 


Your core responsibilities include: 

  • Analysing and understanding key Operational issues hindering KPI achievements across all production areas. Measuring their impact and prioritising main topics. 

  • Ensure the delivery of customer delivery, quantity and quality requirements. Ensuring leadership and direction to technicians to ensure Production OEE targets are met. 

  • Leading small group activities on identified topics and delivering clear project plans and quantifiable improvements aligned to Operational budget commitments.  

  • Studying current production line layouts and leading SGA to reduce waste, improve production and material flows.  

  • Learning, documenting, and standardizing knowledge into WI’s for key production processes i.e. welding, moulding, model changeovers etc. Collaborating with Production Engineers where required.  

  • Ensure key operational processes are consistently replicated across all shifts through comprehensive and robust WI’s and training. Devise & set section budget plans considering short & medium term objectives and targets. 

  • Training a varied range of Production & Maintenance staff (i.e. Supervisor, Technicians to PTM) in key processes using standard methodologies i.e. Gemba, OJT. 

  • Work closely with Direct staff and highlight any performance, procedural, discipline or resource-based issues to the relevant departmental section head. 

  •  Regularly attend morning meetings, cascades and toolbox talks encouraging two-way communication and feedback regarding Operational activities. 


Profile and Qualifications: 

  • Experience in a Managerial or lead Engineering, Management position, in a Hi-Tech and High-Volume Manufacturing Environment (ideally Automotive) 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact effectively at all levels of the Hitachi Astemo group; 

  • Shows tenacity and drive to meet and exceed expectations and standards; 

  • Highly Organised with the ability to engage and motivate others;  

  • Production and Planning Skills required; 

  • Understanding of Stock Management Systems and Maintenance planning
