Description

JR Automation is seeking a Technical Writer to support our FDA validation teams at JR South locations in Liberty, SC, Greenville, SC, and Nashville, TN. Candidates must live within commuting distance of  Liberty, Greenville, or Nashville, or be willing to relocate. Candidates must be available for frequent travel between locations (1-2 weeks per month) depending on project requirements.

 

As a Technical Writer, you will partner with project teams to create manuals and other materials to facilitate the safe operation of custom industrial automation machinery built by JR Automation. In addition, you will work to create documents related to equipment design, software design, build, debug, and qualification phases that meet FDA validation requirements. Technical writers work closely with Engineering, Project Management, and other Documentation team members to ensure the accuracy of technical manuals and other project deliverables including written, print, photographic, and video content. In this position, you will report to the Documentation Department Manager.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Support development of FDA validation documents: Functional Design Specification (FDS), Hardware Design Specification (HDS), Software Design Specification (SDS), etc.
  • Create technical manuals using layout and graphics software to accompany machinery built in our facility
  • Use cameras to create and maintain photographic and video references for machinery
  • Communicate with project teams to ensure accurate documentation
  • Ensure your documents meet project specifications
  • Assemble hard copy and digital manuals and other documentation
  • Write business correspondence to accompany documentation
  • Write and ship revisions to documentation, as necessary
  • Assist with general documentation and business unit tasks and activities
  • Internal and external communications as assigned including, but not limited to, reference documentation, newsletters, marketing documents, and ISO procedures

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in technical writing, with a concentration in science, engineering, or applied technology preferred
  • Experience in industry and technical communication

 

Skills You’ll Have:

  • Computer proficiency; Microsoft Office
  • Solid technical writing skills and knowledge of desktop publishing applications like the Adobe Suite
  • Photography and/or video expertise preferred
