Description

HITACHI RAIL is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Verification and Validation Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Pittsburgh, PA.

Accountabilities:

  • Analysis of System and Subsystem Hardware and Software Requirements to define appropriate validation methods
  • Verification of appropriate validation methods used to satisfy System and Subsystem level requirements
  • Develop test procedures to satisfy system and subsystem hardware and software requirements
  • Develop documentation showing compliance to applicable standards and requirements specifications throughout EN 50128 V&V Lifecycle
  • Review of project life cycles
  • Develop software system and subsystem level test procedures
  • Perform software testing of requirements
  • Perform hardware level type testing (EMC/EMI, temperature and humidity, shock and vibration, etc.)
  • Issue the tests reports and report on non compliances
  • Ensure that designed software and hardware meet applicable requirements
  • Verification of requirements traceability matrices for software and hardware development.
  • Verification of software and hardware test procedures
  • Oversight of project V&V status based on lifecycles
  • Required Skills/Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of testing tools, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, and function generators
  • Ability to perform testing independently
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiarity in development of test procedures and execution of testing in accordance with applicable standards (i.e., EN 50128, IEEE 1558, EN 50121-3-2, EN 50155, EN 50129, etc.)
  • Competent in Microsoft Office products
  • Experience in V&V activities within the railway or other regulated field
  • Ability to multi-task

Desired Skills/Knowledge:

  • Ability to understand testing methods
  • Knowledge of the testing and reporting processes to implement process improvement methods or tools
  • DOORS Experience
  • C++ coding experience
  • VectorCAST tool
  • Effective time management
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Knowledge of international and national railway standards
  • Able to work independently
  • Product V&V testing background
  • Good recordkeeping

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree (minimum)

Languages: English Proficiency
