The successful candidate should be comfortable performing a wide range test and commissioning related tasks. The position is based in Sacramento, CA.

SYSTEM PRINCIPAL PROJECT ENGINEER

HITACHI RAIL STS USA, INC. is seeking a Principal Project Engineer to work in Sacramento, California, and at various unanticipated client and employer work locations throughout the U.S. The System Principal Project Engineer will be required to perform the following duties: (1) be responsible for technical delivery of transportation system, and elaborate design plan for CBTC project, including communication design and signaling design; (2) coordinate a team of engineers to produce an integrate design for transportation system, and write Engineering Management documents according to EN 50126 Standard; (3) coordinate with the client for the technical delivery of the railway transportation system, and control the design process according EN50126 using IBM DOORS software; (4) report to the company progress and status of the Project, and structure reports in Primavera P6 Professional; and (5) follow the CENELEC process for the testing and commissioning activity of CBTC system.

Position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or Electrical Engineering, as well as ten (10) years of experience in a project engineer or lead systems/software engineer position for software control system applications for railway system applications.

This position is for a roving employee who will be working at various unanticipated client and employer work locations throughout the U.S.  Relocation is required.  Domestic travel is also required up to 25% of the time.

Experience preferred: (i) CBTC systems, including the CENELEC process, and experience with the design process to obtain safety certification of the CBTC system; (ii) for railway projects, experience with project management, budget maintenance and control, schedule monitoring and development, maintaining a risk register,  and resource and task management; (iii) experience with railway system deployment and technology; (iv) experience with testing and commissioning of railway system, including field experience with coordinating testing activity; and (v) experience with EN 50126 Standard, IBM DOORS Software, and Primavera P6 Professional.
