HITACHI RAIL is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Relay Calibrator /Tester / Technician who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Batesburg, SC in the Service Shop / repair and field returns.


  • Participates in the assembly of products by hand or using hand tools or portable powered tools
  • Operates equipment as necessary to complete assembly and or disassembly of product according to specifications.
  • Supports the assembly of products according to customers' needs / applicable part number by following blueprints, diagrams, and verbal/written instructions
  • Ability to use a variety of hand tools
  • Inspects own work for accuracy, completeness and compliance to requirements, including HSE requirements, highest quality standards an safety critical requirements
  • Painting metal and aluminum material, wet paint
  • Some heavy lifting is required 
  • Must be able to calibrate and test all types of relays returned from customers for remanufacture and repair.  
  • Must maintain high level of efficiency and quality.  Most relays are considered a vital safety product in the industry.
  • To follow all procedures, standards and specifications related to specific job function.
  • To identify any problems concerning parts/products to supervision such that appropriate corrective action can be taken.
  • On an as needed basis may possibly be required to travel to customer field sites to perform fieldwork.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Some background in a mechanical working environment
  • Mechanically inclined  
  • Detailed oriented

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Ability to work independently and prioritize work from multiple sources
  • Electro-mechanical assembly, mechanical assembly including industrial painting
  • Experience in industrial work setting a plus 
  • Customer satisfaction
  • Takes initiative.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

Education Required:

High School or equivalent and or military background
