Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Principal Project Engineer as we are expanding and currently bidding on new business opportunities. The position will be part of the full-cycle of the project. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.”

Accountabilities

  • Achieve the objectives of assigned high complex clusters and/or projects (risks, technical challenges)
  • Support Business Development to expand it and identify improvement strategies
  • Ensure the budget proposal and achievement of targets on budget, on time and on quality
  • Ensure projects and customer prioritization within the specific
  • Establish a client relationship by ensuring a single and direct managerial interface with client
  • Ensure data monitoring, reporting, analysis and achievement of the KPI’s
  • Ensure customer satisfaction monitoring and the handling of any customer claim (e.g.: identifying and applying any preventive/corrective action)
  • Contribute to the promotion or market opportunities (e.g. through the promotion of orders and variations)
  • Achievement of budget objectives (costs, revenues, margin and cash in) and project key milestones
  • Improvement of the performance of the Cluster (efficiency)

Required Skills/ Knowledge

  • 15 years + of expertise in the role
  • Experience in supervising staff
  • Experience in project integration management, project scope, time, cost, quality, human resource & stakeholders management, project communications and risk management
  • Experience working with customer and consulting engineering organizations.
  • Financial acumen, and understanding of variation, adjustment and change project process.
  • Design and Integration of Mass Transit Rail Systems

Desired Skills/ Knowledge

  • Strong interpersonal skills, leadership, independence and ability to manage priorities;
  • Ability to interact with direct and indirect reporting employees and with company managers;
  • Excellent communication skills and a strong, self-motivated, work ethic;
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure;
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to work on multiple demands simultaneously.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic international environment.
  • Understanding of Key Performance Engineering Indicators (KPI)
  • Knowledge of Bid Process
  • Experience in the Rail industry

Education / Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Electrical, Electronic, Computer Engineering or Information Technlogy
  • Professional Engineer Certificate of Ontario
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Power Point, Access);
  • Proficient in English speaking, reading, and writing;

  • English Proficiency
