POSITION TITLE:        Strategic Procurement Analyst
DEPARTMENT NAME:    Supply Chain Purchasing
REPORTING TO TITLE:    Manager, Purchasing

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Procurement Analyst is responsible for supporting material planning and sourcing of semiconductor-related parts to support operations for Hitachi High-Tech America Inc.  This position will interface with both Japanese and domestic suppliers as well as the external and internal customers on current emerging purchasing & supply chain issues, and any other duties assigned by managers.  The role of a Strategic Procurement Analyst is to develop sourcing strategies both locally and globally, analyze cost and supply line impact, understand supply chain bottlenecks and deviations, and provide analytical solutions to support and enhance the company's procurement as well as RMA operations.  This position will use SAP, Excel, SalesForce, Spotfire, and other specific software tools to analyze material flows from raw material planning to end-customer sales.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare various purchasing related reporting that provide proactive and forward-looking data to support procurement activities, strategic sourcing, projects, and analyses
  • Evaluate and optimize supplier performance
  • Develop and maintain reliable and data-driven vendor forecast for future spare parts demand
  • Work under the guidance of Purchasing Manager as well as Senior Purchasing Specialist to analyze various procurement patterns and trends.
  • Create mathematical models and implement the models into the procurement planning process. 
  • Meet and interface with suppliers both current and potential
  • Engage in management of the current supplier base to provide forecast data, determine purchase order requirements, and establish delivery terms.  Serve as liaison between suppliers and HTA to maximize and maintain supplier performance.
  • Track and maintain supplier management-related information such as on-time Delivery (OTD), cycle-time improvement, capacity management, LT performance, cost tracking, and sourcing solutions to enable a more agile supply chain engagement with suppliers. 
  • Understand supplier challenges and provide proposals to adjust sourcing strategy accordingly. 
  • Interface and partner with the rest of the Supply Chain Team members (and other Hitachi Groups, as needed), representing the Purchasing Team.
  • Review current purchasing methods and give recommendations for process improvement.
  • Support the Purchasing Team's procurement operations such as communication with suppliers, processing orders, and monitoring purchasing activities.
  • Perform research and data collection to understand the semiconductor market situation and proactively analyze the trend. Communicate the actions needed to the Supply Chain Team to achieve strategic procurement and risk avoidance in the supply line.
  • Critically evaluate current Procurement operations to develop ongoing continuous improvement for a better/best approach.
  • Participate in the HTA cost-down program and roadmap planning.
  • Conduct negotiations with suppliers to maximize the value of Hitachi's Supply Chain operation and the company objectives.
  • Work with the Product Support team, field engineers, and site managers to understand the need for strategic procurement and sourcing
  • Exhibit strong presentation skills to explain the data and analytical findings to the Supply Chain Team 
  • Present to peers and Management the findings of the Purchasing Team
  • Develop newsletters or other communication means with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Perform tasks that are assigned by managers.


MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, Business Administration, Project Management, OR Material Planning
  • Equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 3 to 5 years of business operations or supply chain work experience.
  • CPSM certificate is a plus.
  • MBA is a plus.

  

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge of international and domestic procurement methods and practices.
  • Ability to think strategically and develop strategic analytical solutions for complex global logistics environments.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office suite applications 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong teamwork attitude.
  • Ability to quickly learn new applications or software tools and web systems.
  • Must be able to work independently in a punctual and dependable manner.
  • Knowledge/experience in working with SAP is preferred.
  • Possess strong communication skills (oral and written).
  • Ability to work in team settings as well as individually.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
