Hitachi Rail STS USA, Inc. is seeking a Head of Manufacturing and Quality to work in Medley, Florida.

The Head of Manufacturing and Quality will be required to:

  • perform the following project and management accounting duties as part of a dynamic rail transportation company:
  • Plan and oversee production of mass transit railcars designed and engineered overseas, including sourcing, assembly, resource allocation, testing, quality assurance, strategic planning, personnel planning, and budgeting and ensure that components and products confirm with quality, time, cost, and contractual requirements and objectives.
  • Determine professional, technology, production facility, industrial equipment, and labor resources required to complete projects.
  • Review and approve resource requests and costs.
  • Develop purchasing strategies, oversee the planning and negotiation of supply contracts, ensure that budgets are updated, oversee inventory management to ensure optimal levels, efficient internal logistics, and on-time delivery of materials.
  • Monitor production and ensure that production is realized in accordance with contract specifications, on time, and within budget.
  • Review and approve production processes and layouts and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Oversee the identification and implementation of manufacturing technologies to achieve increased quality and reduced costs.
  • Review, approve, and monitor the planning and implementation of production vehicle tests.
  • Manage the investigation and resolution of production process and quality issues.
  • Manage client interface, non-conformities and their resolution.
  • Coordinate with overseas design engineers to plan and implement adjustments, replacements, and repairs to defective, damaged, and incompatible components and sub-assemblies.
  • Manage commissioning and post commissioning warranty claim evaluation and satisfaction. Supervise facility site managers, supply chain manager, industrial engineering manager, production manager, and Quality control manager.

Position requires a Bachelors in mechanical engineering or industrial engineering, and five years of experience in a manager or vice-president position requiring the planning, construction and commissioning of railcars.

Must have experience with the production of mass transit railcars, including responsibility for resource planning (including human, technology, equipment, and facilities resources), budgeting, sourcing (including components, sub-assemblies, and systems sourcing), assembly, testing, and quality assurance.

Position requires domestic travel once per month for up to five days per trip.
