As a Lead Controls Engineer, you will provide leadership and your technical expertise on various automation projects. 
Our Controls Engineering team is dedicated to keeping our customers out in front of the rapid and unpredictable updates in technology.  As a leader of a project team you’ll work alongside our Applications, Mechanical, and Build teams to design, build, program, and deploy custom automated equipment and solutions for every application, process, and industry.  

What You’ll Do: 

  • Responsible for the leadership and direct supervision of others as assigned. 
  • Design, implement and document control systems for various types of automated equipment. 
  • Conduct the electrical/hydraulic pneumatic design, peripheral device programming, machine PLC programming, coordinate the machine debug, power-up, and machine validation with the appropriate build and electrical teams. 
  • Ensure that equipment is designed and programmed to customer and/or JR Automation build specifications using standard techniques and approach. 
  • Responsible to assist with the successful management of assigned programs as they relate to cost, quality, timing and customer satisfaction. 
  • Manage several on-going projects concurrently; including people, travel, customer interactions, etc. 
  • Take ownership of the department and holds direct reports accountable for their performance, quality and productivity.

What You’ll Bring: 

  • Bachelor’s degree from 4-year College or university in related engineering field, or six years related experience and/or training. 
  • 7+ years of related experience with PLC, HMI, Robot, AutoCAD, Motion Control, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, and/or Vision Systems 
  • 5+ years of experience leading projects and cross functional teams. 
  • Automation industry preferred.

  • Travel to customer sites & other JR locations up to 25% of time
