We have an exciting opportunity for a Production Engineer based at our Doncaster location. This role is responsible for the development of processes, methods, work instructions and bill of materials for all approved Engineering Changes for service teams to implement. We are recruiting this role on a permanent basis and there may be some flexibility on location.

Your new role

Specifically, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Work with Design, Service and Supply Chain teams to develop viable and cost-efficient fully engineered tasks for all approved Engineering Changes
  • Connect with Design Authorities and other relevant functions involved in the process of change
  • Manage the process of developing a change from approved solution through to “ready for implementation” as a portfolio, supporting business priorities, constraints and opportunities
  • Production engineer each approved change as part of the "ready for implementation" activity to include task instructions, bill of materials, bill of tools, work content, mix and methods appropriate for the service implementation team
  • To comply with and implement Hitachi Rail’s Health and Safety policy.

About you


  • A background in production engineering in an industrial environment
  • Good knowledge of the (rail) product and its component assemblies
  • Strong electrical experience.
  • Knowledge of rail vehicle construction processes and their main systems
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • An understanding of health and safety requirements of an industrial environment


  • Engineering degree, HND or hold equivalent level of experience.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience working in a rail or regulated industry
