The Field Service Technician will safely perform maintenance on H-E Parts International components at customer sites, perform maintenance on customer’s equipment fleets, perform daily workplace and equipment inspections. This employee will be responsible for reporting in writing a detail of work activities at the completion of every job.

  • Safety – conduct all activities in a safe manner, utilizing PPE and adhering to company policy and alerting others regarding potential concerns.
  • Adhere to all customer location and local policies.
  • MSHA- maintain part 48 training and customer sites access trainings.

Essential Functions:

  • Travel to various job sites.
  • Disassemble, inspect, clean and reassemble mining equipment components
  • Follow specifications and procedures in service manuals.
  • Use all test and diagnostic equipment available.
  • Perform minor welding and fabrication.
  • Practice good housekeeping.
  • Assist in ordering parts.
  • Communicate job status, progress or problems to customers.
  • Complete service reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Work with customers at site to maintain equipment fleets and components
  • Coordinate shipping / receiving with warehouse personnel for parts sales
  • Initiate warranty claims
  • Works with technical support (Engineers, draftspersons, Quality Control, etc.)
  • Submit daily / weekly reports to management


Position will not be required to make decisions that will directly impact the department. Occasionally will make decisions on customer sites.


Position requires collaboration with department managers and current/potential customers.


  • Five (5) years’ experience in related field.
  • Post High School education in diesel technology or related field.
  • A professional, ethical and exceptional work-ethic is required for the candidate
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records
  • Must have intermediate computer skills in MS Office Suite (*MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint), and Internet
  • All activities must be performed safely and with quality in mind. 
  • Travel requirements will average 80% – 90% locally.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the mining and/or industrial sector a plus.
  • Work independently and be a team player within the department and the organization.
  • Exhibit exceptional organizational skills and be a problem solver.
  • Work completely and accurately under time constraints and deadlines.
  • Work in a fast pace environment and prioritize multiple work assignments

  • Standing for prolonged periods of time - up to 8 hours or more per day.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to moving objects (materials handled and transported throughout the work area via cranes, fork trucks and other employees). The employee is frequently exposed to airborne particles. The employee is also frequently exposed to sharp and abrasive edges which may result in scrapes, cuts and bruises. The employee is occasionally exposed to humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
