Summary of the position:

The Inside Sales Engineer provides internal and external customer sales and technical support.  This role will serve as first point of contact for incoming sales requests coming into the assigned territory.  The inside sales engineer owns requests that can be fulfilled at first level and those that need to be triaged to the other levels of the organization due to complexity or time restraints.  This role reports to the General Manager and is based locally in the assigned territory.

This position is located at CPS Compressor-Pump & Service, 3333 W 2400 S, West Valley City, UT 84119.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Handling inbound customer requests and proactively contacting current and potential customers to generate sales of products, services and parts marketed in the assigned territory
  • Perform basic and intermediate product and system sizing, based on end user inquiries
  • Perform competitor cross reference of product, parts and equipment
  • Support sales team in providing proposals to include the planning, coordination and management of complex customer projects utilizing the interdisciplinary teams
  • Preparation of technical quotations for the team, including data sheets, specifications and documentation for the developed solutions; this may include fabrication / package design, system selections, etc.
  • Assist the service team by reviewing significant repair quotes and providing alternative solutions for the customer
  • Work with factory and OEM product managers and application engineers to ensure the best solution is being offered; selecting and offering alternative products as needed in order to meet customer needs and expectations
  • Follow up on quotes with customers and outside sales team to ensure quotes successfully transition to orders; managing the orders to ensure targeted delivery schedule is achieved
  • Assist in the management of completes inventory to stocking levels
  • Ensure that all paperwork, purchase orders, sales, etc. are maintained to respond to customer inquiries timely and ensure internal process requirements
  • Ensure the upkeep of sales tools (i.e. including CRM) and product training is current
  • Prepare all sales and activity reports, presentations, studies and research as requested

Qualifications:

  • Experience with a technical product design; experience in compressed air equipment is a plus
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills with the ability to ask the right questions in order to investigate the best customer solution
  • Positive customer-focused attitude and successful interaction in a dynamic team environment is a must
  • Proficiency with MS Office software, i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and manufacturing operating systems, etc. Experience with SAP and CRM tools are a plus

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical discipline

Professional experience:

  • At least 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, preferably in the use and/or application of compressed air systems
  • Ability to work collaboratively with key stakeholders
  • Available for travel at least 25%
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)  
  • Experience in CAD or reading technical drawings/information preferred
