Sr. Tax Manager

Summary:

Hitachi America, Ltd. (www.hitachi-america.us) is looking for a new Sr. Tax Manager to join the Tax Department located in Santa Clara, CA. The Tax Manager will be responsible for managing the tax compliance function of the tax department, including, but not limited to, reviewing the federal, state and local corporate tax workpapers and returns as well as international and non-income tax filings, supporting controlled group activities, researching issues, and managing tax projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of senior tax accountants
  • Review consolidated and single corporate entities’ federal, combined states, and separate state and local income tax workpapers and returns, quarterly tax estimates, and return extensions.
  • Review international and non-income tax filings
  • Co-manage controlled group data collections and calculations with the other tax manager.
  • Assist with quarterly tax provisions and annual tax true-ups.
  • Handle requests from auditors for internal control testing as well as year-end provision audit.
  • Assist Tax Director with various tax projects.
  • Represent corporations in tax audits.
  • Provide training and guidance to personnel on tax matters.
  • Research and provide recommendation on tax issues.

Qualifications:

  • BS in Accounting, Taxation or related field is required. MS in Taxation is preferred.
  • 15+ years of corporate tax experience is required. Big 4 and multinational corporation is required.
  • Experience with stock basis gain/loss calculation, net operating limitation study and controlled group filing is required.
  • Must have experience managing the in-house tax return preparation. 
  • Experience using Thomson Reuters Onesource corporate tax software.
  • Up to date on the tax law changes per the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 and the CARES Act.
  • Strong analytical and detail-oriented skills.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Tools and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively with others and enhance teamwork environment.
