COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement:  Hitachi High-Tech America, Inc. POSITION:                                     Software Engineer – Image Processing Algorithms

TRAVEL:                                         Up to 30% (international & domestic)


Assist customer's operation of CD-SEM (Review-SEM, Inspection-SEM) at customer site. Create prototype which shows the solution of the issue faced by the customer. Write documents showing design, workflow, and support software development teams in Japan. Provide technical support and maintenance of HTA software systems deployed at customer sites.


  • Support customer's operation of CD-SEM (Review-SEM, Inspection-SEM)
  • Create prototype solutions related to image processing issues
  • Hands-on development and optimization of image enhancing algorithms for image processing using computational imaging as well as machine learning
  • Researching and resolving complex software and system problems
  • Optimize image processing system performance, end to end
  • Work closely with Quality Assurance teams to refine algorithms for optimal system performance and fix bugs.
  • Support products from the early development and prototyping phases through to production
  • Developing functional specifications
  • Participate in design reviews, code reviews and test reviews


  • BS or MS in Computer Science or Engineering (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Specialization in image processing preferred


  • Five (5) or more years of relevant experience in the industry or research.
  • Clear understanding of image processing techniques such as edge detection skills, image alignment, removing noise, image segmentation, correction/modification, compression, and image reconstruction
  • Working knowledge of ML techniques, deep learning related to image processing
  • Must have three (3) years of work experience with programming languages such as C / C++
  • Must have experience with image analysis or processing with tools such as Python/Matlab
  • Travel to Naka factory in Japan for product review meetings.
  • Travel to customer locations as needed.
  • Experience with open-source framework/libraries/concepts/tools needed for image processing/enhancement
  • This position requires international and domestic travel for business purposes – up to 30%

  • Self-sufficient, self-reliant, and self-disciplined, but also able to operate effectively as part of a team
  • Knowledge of Japanese language desirable but not mandatory
