Your new role

The Internal Audit (IA) Department within Hitachi Rail is expanding into the US, by launching an Internal Audit team that will be responsible for audit activities across North and South America. The IA team will operate from our US Headquarters in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

For this new and exciting venture, we are looking for a dynamic and ambitious auditor to join the team. You will play a key role in developing the audit, risk and compliance culture in a fast growing business. This is a new role and an ideal opportunity for a high-performing auditor who is ready for the next step in their career.

You will report into the IA Manager (Pittsburgh) and work collaboratively with our international Internal Audit and J-SOX colleagues based in the United Kingdom, Italy and Japan.

This role has a diverse remit and provides a real opportunity for the successful candidate to put his/her own stamp on the role.

To be successful in this role, you need to be a self-starter who is comfortable working independently (and as part of a small team) on end-to-end audit and compliance assignments, managing multiple projects concurrently and have the soft skills and resilience to manage and influence stakeholders at all levels.

Accountabilities

• Supporting the delivery of the Hitachi Rail Annual Audit Plan through planning, execution and reporting findings and improvement opportunities across a wide base of complex and risk-based internal audits.

• Executing audits based on Group IA Methodology, international auditing standards and applicable regulations. Audit activities relate to a combination of operational, project, corporate, financial and compliance reviews, as well as the J-SOX (Japanese Sarbanes Oxley) controls framework.

• Performing audit assignments remotely and/or onsite, depending on the scope of the individual assignments. Onsite audit locations may vary between Pittsburgh Headquarters, Project locations across North and South America and Manufacturing Plants in the USA.

• Contributing with debriefing auditees on audit results and improvement opportunities in a clear and concise manner and agree mitigating action plans that will appropriately address related process and controls weaknesses

• Working closely with management and action owners to ensure appropriate implementation of agreed audit actions

• Supporting the IA Manager and Head of IA & J-SOX with preparation of management reporting

Required Skills/Knowledge

• Prior audit experience gained within practice or industry, ideally within a large, complex, multinational organization
• J-SOX / SOX experience, from industry or from practice
• Relevant accountancy / audit qualifications (e.g. IIA, CA, CPA, CIA, CIMA, ACCA, CFE, etc.)
• Excellent inter-personal skills and be able to work as part of an international and cross-cultural team
• Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills
• Literacy in MS Office modules / applications
• Experience with SAP and/or IT related audits will be beneficial (not essential)
• Must be able to travel to operating sites around Americas and occasional travel to UK, Japan and Italy
