Production Manager


Supervises the Shift Supervisors (all shifts) ensuring attainment of company budgetary and production goals while meeting all established quality standards. Tracks and reports key performance metrics to Management. Directs and Coordinates activities concerned with production of company products by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.


  • Responsible for safety issues in production areas and identify countermeasures.
  • Responsible for ensuring production personnel follow all company policies and procedures including but not limited to environmental, safety, and quality.
  • Confers with management to establish production and quality control standards, develop budget, cost controls, and obtain data types, quantities, specifications and delivery dates of product ordered.
  • Manages all production activities to ensure customer product is ready to ship per customer releases.
  • Plans and directs production activities and establishes production priorities for products keeping with effective operations, cost factors, and processes related to machining and assembly of castings.
  • Develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality by employing Lean Principles.
  • Consults with engineering personnel relative to modification of machines and equipment, in order to improve production and quality of products.
  • Coordinates production activities with procurement, maintenance and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines and equipment.
  • Oversees all production activities and monitors their relationship to WF's business metrics.
  • Supervise and direct the Shift Supervisors who oversee the production team.
  • Supervise and direct the TPM activities on the floor through available resources.
  • Communication liaison between Production and all other departments (maintenance, tooling, engineering, quality, and customers).
  • Responsible for identifying areas for throughput improvement and facilitating the use of resources to obtain improvements.
  • Responsible for monitoring scrap performance including preparation of WF scrap reports. Identifying and facilitating countermeasures for improvement.
  • Follow up to all customer complaints to ensure quality alerts are implemented by production personnel. Participates on MRB team and ensures countermeasures are implemented in production areas.
  • Follow up on the implementation of production-related countermeasures identified in corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with production control and shift supervisors to ensure we meet our delivery targets.
  • Ensure production area reflects a high standard of 6S and organization on daily basis. Champion production personnel's continuous improvement activities.
  • Identify ways to reduce overtime and assist shift supervisors in effective use of personnel resources.
  • Work with Human Resources and Shift Supervisors to verify effective initial production training and cross training and ensure consistent personnel administration across shifts.
  • General Production management activities as assigned.


Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university and/or five to ten years related experience.


  • Ability to read and write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of Supervisors, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Focuses on solving conflict, not blaming and maintains confidentiality.
  • Observes safety and security procedures; proactively resolves potentially unsafe condition.
