Summary of the position:

The Cost Accountant is a financial specialist who has a deep understanding of ERP systems and standard cost accounting in a complex manufacturing environment.  With this knowledge, the cost accountant records the proper entries to ensure that inventory and cost of sales are properly accounted for and reported in the financial statements.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Support the cost accounting process, including cost maintenance, standard cost analysis, overhead rate analysis and annual cost rolls
  • Develop, maintain and improve reporting of key metrics and financial reports for the management team
  • Support internal audit, external audit and other outside reviews
  • Support the general accounting function, including month-end close, monthly forecast, annual budget, account analysis and reporting
  • Assist in the Annual Physical Inventory
  • Analyze manufacturing and purchase price variances
  • Lead and/or support special projects, as needed



  • Undergraduate degree in accounting

Professional experience:

  • SAP experience a plus
  • Experience in large complex manufacturing environments
  • Successful candidate must be able to effectively communicate up, down and across all levels of the organization
  • Successful candidate must be able to respond to a fast paced, results oriented, rapidly changing environment
