Senior System Engineer

The Role

We are looking for a senior system engineer with excellent design, tuning, and debugging experience within a Ceph scale-out environment. This role requires the ability to work in various areas of the Linux operating system; deployment, configuration, performance tuning, and security at an expert level.

Responsibilities.

Participating in bi-directional code reviews, design discussions, and task breakdowns

Collaborating with teammates in an Agile software development lifecycle

Configure and integrate Ceph to support the environment our solution is being design for

Build scripts to perform automated install, setup, and configuration tasks for both Ceph and Linux related operations

Requirements

4+ years' experience working with Ceph and scale-out storage technologies

Direct experience architecting, implementing, configuring, troubleshooting, and performance tuning of Ceph scale out storage environments

Understanding of the Ceph components and their configuration flags

Expert scripting experience within the area of Linux administration and configuration

Excellent analytical and debugging skills

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Active participation in a modern/distributed team environment

Applying your knowledge of Ceph and Linux technologies as the team's SME

Demonstrated experience with bash and Python scripting

Desirable Skills:

Deep working knowledge of file system architectures and principles

Understanding and experience with software development of storage, networking protocols, and network attached storage

Exposure to enterprise level storage technologies, distributed file systems, snapshots, replication, clustering, high availability, de-duplication, and related concepts

Conversance with agile methodologies and task break down methodologies, such as: scrum-ban, stand-ups, story mapping, planning poker, etc.

Familiar with source control systems (gitlab, github)

Education
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent.
