Hitachi Rail STS USA is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, Senior Accountant, who thrives in a fast-paced environment.  The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic, working independently and as part of a team.  Possessing strong knowledge and experience in accounting and financial reporting, in order to be accountable for several less complex accounting areas, and support all areas of the company accounting.  The responsibilities will be across various areas of the company and will include the financial reporting, budget, and forecast processes.  The position is based in Pittsburgh, PA.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Part of a small team reporting to an accounting manager with the responsibility for timely and accurate financial reporting; collaborating with a broader CFO team including line of business Controlling and Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
• Accountable to specific items within the monthly close process, and more robust quarterly financial reporting on a quick timescale to reporting to the parent company in Italy
• Assess internal controls, accounting conclusions and analysis over the accounting for inventory; work with a broad cross-functional team including plant controlling, logistics, supply chain planning and assembly/manufacturing over the inventory process over up to 3 distinct locations (and additional potential project site locations) evaluating a holistic result over the existence, completeness and accuracy of inventory balances, collaborating with other CFO team members in Accounting, Controlling and/or FP&A with regard to inventory
• Utilize data analytics, Excel and/or other tools to identify anomalous transactions or data
• Primary responsibility for certain areas of the company accounting, with support for several others.  The position will allow the individual to continue in the development of being an overall well rounded accountant.
• Accurate reporting within two instances of SAP aligned two operating Lines of Business; Accurate reporting within Hyperion, the company’s financial reporting tool; A successful Senior Accountant will be partially responsible for the accuracy of both.
• Support the completion of the financial reporting regarding the quarterly forecast process, and the annual budget and strategic plan.
• Perform various account reconciliations on a monthly basis such as prepaid expenses and assets, advances to suppliers and advances from customers  
• Responsible for collaboration with project controlling and the project execution teams in recording A/R invoicing and related analysis.
• Perform overall analysis over key areas of the company Balance Sheet and Income Statement.
• Complete reporting (in Hyperion and otherwise) for use by management and in the external financial reporting.
• Collaborate with other areas of the CFO organization (project controlling, Treasury, Tax, etc.) in recording and analyzing financial reporting.
• Collaborate with management throughout operations to understand fluctuations and to facilitate accuracy of information.  Driving the business to achieve quality and accurate results.
• Ability to comprehend accounting topics and resolve appropriate treatment as required under IFRS and US GAAP
• Assist with the preparation of internal and external audit requests

Required Skills/ Knowledge:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in related industry/field.
• Accounting and financial reporting experience.
• Ability and understanding of use of Excel

 Desired Skills/ Knowledge:

• Experience with SAP
• Experience with Hyperion or related consolidation tool
• Broad accounting experience

  Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Accounting or related degree.

 Languages:

• English - Proficient
