ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage Inventory Control, Shipping, Receiving, service area, sample area and returnable packaging.
  • Supervise Asst Manager, Supervisors, group leads, 70+ employees and manage their employment records, job descriptions and timesheets.  Operation is 24 hours.
  • Interview, hire and train material handlers, Shipping and Receiving personnel.
  • Manage warehouse layout and changes, including parts organization in the warehouse.
  • Manage component parts from Receiving through Manufacturing, finished goods and from Manufacturing through Shipping using FIFO.
  • Manage daily cycle counting and annual physical inventories.  Maintain the integrity of the inventory tracking system in relation to inventory accuracy.
  • Manage service parts storage, packaging, and shipments.
  • Manage tray inventory and wash operations.
  • Manage PPAP, prototype and engineering samples inventory.
  • Meet company goals in terms of delivery.
  • Review warehouse operation costs and plan cost reduction effort.
  • Source, negotiate and requisition non-standard items and equipment for department.
  • Responsible for maintenance and cost analysis of forklift fleet and accessories.
  • Monitor compliance with OSHA Standards in areas of forklift safety, drum  and daily operations.
  • Manage procedures and policies in accordance with TS16949 and ISO14001 standards.
  • Set and report department goals according to Hitachi management requirements.
  • Work in teams toward further development of Hitachi’s environmental, safety and system enhancements programs.
  • Support and comply with all company policies, procedures, standards (QMS, 5S, TS, Q1, etc.) through compliance, improvement, and preventative measures.
  • Plan, execute and monitor a cost effective warehouse system which can fulfill Hitachi’ strategic and operational targets.
  • Plan and ensure that the customer requirements concerning material management are achieved with a customer rating above average.
  • Project management as assigned.
  • Perform related tasks as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education and experience.  5 years experience in either warehouse or material control.  Experience in automotive manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Must have knowledge on production planning, material order planning, shipment plan, inventory control, and shipment.
  • Familiar with TS16949, ISO14001, and OSHA requirements.
  • Excellent communication skill with other employees.
  • Ability to motivate employees to have good team work to accomplish objectives.
  • Past supervisory or managing experiences.  Experience in performance evaluation and employment decision making.
  • Must be proficient in MSWord, Excel, and PowerPoint.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for the direction and supervision of employees. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk. The employee occasionally is required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position works in a warehouse/production environment.  The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

The performance of this position requires exposure to the manufacturing areas where certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment.
