Role Overview
Operating as part of the Finance and Accounting Team, within the Tax Centre of Excellence, this role supports the EMEA Head of Tax in providing the Hitachi Group Companies with corporate tax support. This is a great opportunity for a Corporate Tax specialist to broaden their Tax experience working in a multinational company, gaining exposure to a wide range of different and interesting areas within the Tax function.
This will be a fixed-term contract for 12 months.
This role will be based in either Stoke Poges, UK or Krakow, Poland. Flexible working will be offered, but the successful candidate must be able to regularly attend the office when required
Main Tasks & Responsibilities
The aim of this role is to work with the EMEA Head of Tax in the end-to-end Corporate tax compliance process for Hitachi Europe UK and other Hitachi group UK companies. Other responsibilities include:
Liaising with external advisors in the preparation of UK Corporation tax returns
Preparing the R&D Tax Credit Claims
Preparing the tax disclosures in the UK statutory accounts
Coordinating with the Hitachi UK companies on matters related to group relief, corporate interest restriction, use of tax losses, overview of the group tax position and monitoring group’s payment position with HMRC
Dealing with requests from HMRC
Support the EMEA Head of Tax on matters related to tax compliance and advisory for Hitachi’s European subsidiaries and branches
Assist with ensuring that appropriate tax controls, procedures and reporting functionality is in place
Assisting in the implementation of finance, tax or transfer pricing specific projects
Work with the EMEA Head of Tax in dealing with corporate tax and transfer pricing audits and controversies with local tax authorities
Support in carrying out corporate tax process, system reviews and testing including assessment of tax risks
Skills & Experience
This position ideally suits some who is ACCA / ACA / ATT / CTA qualified with experience in working with large multinationals either from an in house or tax consulting perspective and is looking for the next challenge in their career.
The preferred candidate will have the following skills:
Fluent in English (written and spoken)
Experience in corporate tax compliance and advisory, high level understanding of International Tax Issues
Excellent inter-personal and communication skills, oral and written
Strong organisational skills
Pro-active team player
Strong computer literacy skills (particularly Excel)
SAP skills required
Ability to handle multiple workflows at one time, prioritising in an effective manner
Excellent research skills
Ability to interact effectively with the finance team, including regional finance managers/directors, corporate tax and transfer pricing colleagues, as well as tax authorities and external advisors
A superior work ethic and a dedication to the highest work quality and job excellence
