Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Senior Global Categories Buyer - Telecom, Security and SCADA who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Naples, Italy.

Part of an international team he/she will be in charge of the procurement process, starting from request for quotations and offer analysis to negotiating, drafting and issuing Purchase order and Subcontracts related to the Telecom, Security and SCADA categories globally.


Activities to be considered as part of this role are the following:

  • Support the implementation of the assigned global categories strategies;
  • Ensure procurement execution (transactional operations) for relevant global categories by:

  • Issuing and release of Purchase Orders following up on Contracts in alignment with internal procurement processes and procedures;
  • Drafting of  agreements, such as MoU, LOI, LOA and Contract;
  • Achievement of global category targets (bid and project targets).

  • Ensure both the effective and efficient negotiation of  Price, Terms and Conditions with Suppliers (i.e. BAFO, target, etc.) and the preparation of  the relevant reports in accordance with Company procurement policies and procedures;
  • Budgeting for tenders in his/her geographic area and support global team when required;
  • Ensure the implementation of a complete sourcing package preparing cost estimation for the assigned categories based on comprehensive analysis of the market, project/bids needs;
  • Ensure the implementation of all actions required to solve identified issues of Global suppliers  (e.g.: variation order, contract clauses, …) in collaboration with local procurement units, if needed;
  • Ensure, according to the supply plan/project schedule, the implementation of all the procurement activities for relevant global commodity.
  • Scouting of new suppliers and management of existing one within the given perimeter (technology and geographical)
  • Internal stakeholder management within the supply chain, sales, project management and legal

Required Skills/Knowledge

  • University Degree (Engineering, Economics, Law) or Equivalent;
  • Technical Background;
  • Up to 5 years of Procurement expertise;
  • Cost & Commercial Acumen;
  • Benchmarking and risk management;
  • Agreements;
  • Suppliers relationship;
  • Negotiation;
  • Statutory Policies and Organizational Processes;
  • Suppliers qualification processes and methods;
  • Vendor rating and suppliers monitoring;
  • IT Tools (Ms Office, SAP, E- Auction etc.);
  • Procurement Planning Methods;
  • Reporting;
  • Purchasing Process and Procedures.


Master's Degree (Engineering) or Equivalent Technical Background.

Fluent in English (written and spoken).
