Meet our Team The NBSS (National Breast Screening System) team provide Application Support and Development services to the NHS. We provide support to the NHS breast screening units across England and Northern Ireland. We are a team of diverse individuals and growing our team significantly to provide the required services over the coming years. Responsibilities The main areas of responsibility are:
- Working as part of the NBSS Service Development team to design, develop and implement solutions for NBSS (tactical and strategic work)
- Providing peer & validation reviews of proposals and estimates, coaching, training and where requested, mentoring for Developers
- Chairing and Owner of the NBSS Solutions Board
- Acting as NBSS SME
- Acting as NBSS Development TDA (Technical Design Authority), including the technical approval of Changes and Releases and Advisor to Projects and Changes forums
- Providing ROM and more specific estimates for work, including Application Risk assessments
- Proactive management and resolution of the Development Workstack (including Problems, Changes, RFC's and Releases)
- Analysis of customer requirements and presentation of recommendations, proposals and enhancements moving through to the development lifecycle
- Providing occasional second line support, where required due to business need.
- Attending & contributing to customer meetings, working/user Groups as maybe required
- Driving CSI and Innovation
- Third line support (before Supplier) - assisting with complex incidents as required by the Support team, liaison with 3 rd parties
- Matrix reporting line (to Development Manager & Service Director)
Essential Skills: - Proven experience of Development lifecycle, ideally from initial requirement through to requirements specification (technical and functional), solution design, implementation and rollout.
- Able to propose options, solutions both for tactical and strategic change
- Able to clarify requirements with Clients and End Users, ensuring that requirements are clearly documented and signed off
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Ability interpret changes in regulations and guidelines (and do this proactively)
- GDPR awareness
- Information Security and vulnerability awareness
- Leadership and EI skills
- Intersystems Cache, Cache Object Script or IRIS Skills/Experience
- Database and Application Design
- A demonstrable passion for technology and a wish to improve and innovate
- Familiarity with software development methodologies and processes like Waterfall, Agile and/or SCRUM
- Proven history of Liaison with 3 rd Parties and the Customer, including agreeing and documenting End User requirements
- Ability to work to agreed estimates, time, quality and cost in line with the priority as assigned by the NBSS Development Manager
- Excellent communication & presentation skills for interaction with client and senior management. Also, to communicate complex technical solutions to junior members and non-technical business people.
