Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Senior Wayside Signaling Commissioning Engineer (Manager level) who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Mississauga, ON Canada.

Accountabilities

  • Responsible for leading the testing and commissioning activities of a Rail Transit System from installation to the start of revenue service
  • Interface with the project manager, Work Package Lead (WPL) and commissioning manager to successfully execute the projects activities and effectively turn the system over to the customer with the support of the commissioning engineers
  • Interface and coordinate with commissioning manager to assure the commissioning engineers provide the appropriate support and address all site activities to successful project completion
  • Ensure the review of Commissioning documents and data sheets, needed at field level are complete.
  • Able to work under pressure during intense periods of testing and commissioning activities
  • Ensure coordination with the project team, to guarantee that the, Testing & Commissioning Integration activities are executed in the most effective and efficient manner.
  • Ensure the compliance of System Commissioning and Testing activities, with adherence to international and national Safety standards and local safety authority’s processes and procedures.
  • Willing to work flexibly and efficiently in support of the project which may include working shift rotation, nights, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to interact with customer and project team in a professional manner
  • Provide-valued added input and assist to the commissioning manager in the development of models and systems that maximizes resource efficiency.

Required Skills/ Knowledge

  • 7-10+ years leading Test teams on Railway Signaling Systems
  • Background in Electrical Engineering; able to read and understand schematics, books of plans, and other mechanical drawings
  • Background in SW development and testing, particularly in IEE1483 and EN 50128 standards
  • Working knowledge of AREMA, FRA, AAR signaling rules and recommendations
  • Working knowledge of Hitachi STS USA products {MicroLok,  Track Circuits, Switch Machines, TWC, Vital relays, Hermes ATS}
  • Excellent communication skills [verbal and written]
  • Proficient knowledge in DOORS, RTC, Microsoft Office Products; limited knowledge of National Instruments LabVIEW
  • Experienced in different types of signaling systems ( Relay, Microprocessor, PTC, CBTC) Knowledge of computer virtualization
  • Experience with IXL,ATS , ATC and DCS subsystems requirements and specifications

Desired Skills/ Knowledge

  • Working knowledge of AREMA, FRA, AAR signaling rules and recommendations
  • Working knowledge of Hitachi STS USA products {MicroLok,  Track Circuits, Switch Machines, TWC, Vital relays, Hermes ATS}
  • Experienced in different types of signaling systems ( Relay, Microprocessor, PTC, CBTC) Knowledge of computer virtualization
  • Installation, Testing and Commissioning of rail transit system in brown and green field environment.
  • Technically competent with intimate knowledge of railway signalling train control network, train to wayside radio communication.
  • Safe work and best practices
