Summary:

Hitachi America, Ltd. (www.hitachi-america.us) is looking for a new Tax Director to join the Tax Department located in Santa Clara, CA. The Tax Director will be responsible for preparing the consolidated tax provision and overseeing the tax compliance function of the tax department, including, but not limited to, reviewing all the federal, state and local corporate tax workpapers and returns, interfacing with tax authorities, researching issues, and managing tax projects.

Responsibilities:

• Manage up to five tax staff directly and indirectly.
• Prepare the quarterly consolidated tax provision and annual true-ups.
• Review the annual tax provision and true-ups for tax shared service companies.
• Review consolidated, sub-consolidated and single corporate entities’ federal, combined states, and separate state and local income tax workpapers and returns, quarterly tax estimates, and return extensions.
• Review quarterly intercompany tax allocations.
• Review proforma federal and state tax returns for final intercompany tax allocations.
• Assist with the transfer pricing and uncertain tax position documentations.
• Manage US control group activities (e.g. BEAT, R&D credits, and GILTI HTE).
• Represent companies in tax audits.
• Provide training and guidance to personnel on tax matters.
• Research and provide recommendation on tax issues.
• Assist Senior Tax Director with various tax projects.

Qualifications:

• BS in Accounting or related field is required. MS in Taxation is preferred.
• 12+ years of corporate tax experience with Big 4 experience required and multinational corporation strongly preferred.
• Experience using Thomson Reuters OneSource corporate tax software preferred.
• Up to date on the tax law changes, including the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 and CARES Act.
• Strong analytical and detail-oriented skills.
• Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Tools.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task under tight deadlines.
• Ability to work effectively with others and enhance teamwork environment.
