Assistant Human Resource Manager

ROLE :

The HR Assistant Manager is responsible for coordinating HR functions, including, but not limited to, payroll processing, recruiting, policy review, benefits administration, and employee relations. This position also shares responsibility for ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations and assists with company-wide HR initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Coordinates payroll/compensation functions and HRIS information requests (i.e. ADP)
  • Manages the non-exempt and some exempt recruiting, termination processing, and relocation functions, including interviews, background checks, offer letters, new hire orientation, and stay/exit interviews
  • Coordinates marketing plan that establishes our presence in the community and supports hiring initiatives
  • Administers employee benefits for new hires and participates in the Annual Benefits Enrollment process
  • Coordinates annual employee performance review and goal-setting process
  • Addresses employees' company policy-related questions; participates in policy reviews
  • Coordinates preparation of annual compliance reporting (e.g. EE0-1, VETS-100), Affirmative Action Plan (AAP)
  • Provides third-party employment verifications
  • Prepares and maintains company headcount
  • Assists with issues re: 401(k), payroll, and non-claims insurance questions
  • Assists in the administration of the 401k plan
  • Prepares reports and data as requested by internal and external auditors for audits related to HR, Benefits, and/or 401k plans
  • Participates on committees and special projects; seeks additional responsibilities
  • Responds to management's information and reporting request
  • Processes daily invoices
  • Serves as backup for payroll processing
  • Coordinates wellness programs
  • Coordinates tuition reimbursement

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS :

  • Bachelor's degree from a 4-yr college or university or 2-5 years of related HR experience and/or training (required)
  • Strong mathematical skills (required)
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (required)
  • ADP Workforce Now (preferred)

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Up-to-date knowledge of HR-related laws, regulations, legal precedents, and compliance-related issues
  • Ability to comprehend material such as detailed forms, standard memos, and letters
  • Ability to communicate with supervisors, co-workers, subordinates, and external customers, orally and in writing; ability to maintain confidentiality; cross-cultural communication experience
  • Ability to work independently to identify problems, review related information, develop and evaluate options, and implement solutions
  • Ability to simultaneously balance and prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and deadlines
  • Good oral communication
  • Positive work attitude
  • Punctual
  • Ability to adapt to a flexible work schedule
