Summary:
We are looking for a candidate to join our urban air mobility (UAM) research. The candidate will participate in -
Investigation of current standards, analyze the rule proposed by FAA and comment of the effectiveness of Hitachi’s current products, software, and simulator subsystems problems to management.
Surveying latest technology in industry and academia: e-VTOL/UAM systems, missions and operational landscape. Design, develop, test, and support of e-VTOL/UAM simulation products.
Development of control algorithms for e-VTOL/UAM flight control or support design and, design development and qualification simulator implementation systems.
Building integrated datasets, models, analytical tools, and visualizations using traditional and non-traditional data sources.
Developing technical documentation and provide inputs for creating documentation as required.
Evaluation of UAM simulator performance under a variety of assumptions and trade-off effectively leading to PoC with in-flight demonstration.
Collaborations with Hitachi R&D team across the globe to develop and test models and simulation environments
Requirements:
Experience in industry or academia developing robotics, avionics, flight software, or autonomous vehicles.
Knowledge of vertical flight dynamics and eVTOL flight control development. Experience with vehicle guidance and control systems preferred.
M.S. in related engineering field, Ph.D. preferred.
A strong theoretical and experimental background with evidence of skills related to
formal methods and their applications to robotic systems.
Working knowledge of Python, Matlab, and C++.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in flight data analysis/ simulator development and model validation.
Experience in multidisciplinary design optimization (MDO) or Reinforcement Learning.
Knowledge/experience in commercial aviation aircraft design, simulation, operations.
The candidate is expected to have good skills in writing scientific papers and technical reports.
Good to have experience in participating in SAE or NASA competition / forums.
